At the end of La Rambla, near the sea, you will find the Mirador de Colon, a great work built in 1888 for the Universal Exhibition as a reminder of the discovery of America.
The work combines stone, iron and bronze, and consists of a column that rises from a base sculpted with the figures of prominent people related to the discovery. At the top, the sculpture of Columbus points the sea. Inside the column, which measures 2.25 meters in diameter, there is a lift that goes up to the viewing gallery. Ride up and enjoy a panoramic view of Barcelona.
At sixty meters above the ground, the view of the city is a wonderful sight. You will be able to identify the historic buildings of the city between the mountain and the sea: admire the new seafront, the new road links, and the new skyline. Take a walk all around the viewing gallery and discover the new Barcelona.
